It is recommended that you discharge the batteries from your golf cart to about 50-80 percent, not beyond 80 percent, or to the point that your golf cart is completely dead until the batteries are dead.

All too little pressure will prematurely cause your tires to wear down. If you use your off-road golf cart, a little less tire pressure will give you more traction, but it is recommended to check more frequently on tire wear. Too much pressure is going to wear down the internal tyre.

Remember, if you’re driving on slippery or icy roads, too much friction in your tyre will reduce the grip your tires get on the pavement. If you use your golf cart to drive daily on the lane, then you are recommending sufficient tire pressure–not too much and not too little.

Make sure you maintain a proper speed. Modern tires for golf carts are designed to handle modern speed for golf carts. These are not designed to withstand the high speed and violence faced by regular vehicle tyres. If you don’t find any noticeable anomalies but still want to see how much wear your tires are getting, the Penny Test will give you a good gage on your tire wear. Take a penny and put it in the tire’s groove. The higher the penny goes, the more the tire manages to run. The more exposed the penny, the more worn down your tire tread is. It takes only a few minutes to check the health of your tires every now and then. Proper tire cleaning should ensure the ride’s maximum grip and handling, resulting in faster, easier and better riding.

3. Golf Cart brake Maintenance

Many modern golf carts have self-adjusting brakes and do not require manual adjustment, but here and there they need to tweak a bit. Those who don’t own new carts or who don’t have self-adjusting brakes and older carts, can do that manually as well. Older golf carts have an adjustable screw on the back of the brake drum that can be rotated to adjust the brakes.

You will need to remove the rubber boots from the tires to locate the brake change pin. With your fingers, yank the rubber boots and make sure you pull them tight.

Next, you need to make the brake pads move closer to the brake drum by rotating the change screw to the tyres. You’ll then have to spin or turn the wheel by hand. If you feel pressure, change the brake again until you feel no traction whatsoever. Once you feel no resistance while turning the wheels, you will have adjusted the brakes successfully.

4. Golf Cart Lights Maintenance

Tape all electrical tape connections and lock all nylon wire connectors. In the hole you drilled earlier, install the toggle switch. Reconnect the terminal of the negative cell. Switch the key to the spot “on” to check the lights.

5. Mirrors, Lubrication And Gauges
