Prepare Your Golf Cart For Winter Season

Using Your Golf Carts During Winter Seasons

Why Keeping Your Golf Cart Back In The Garage, Even During The Snowy Months, When There Is So Much You Can Do?

Here we’ve put together some of the best ideas for your golf cart or ATV during the winters!

In winters, even the slightest buildup of ice or snowfall can leave your sidewalks, entrances or roads dangerously slippery. Your golf cart can help you stay safe while you fix it!

You may want to install off-road tires to have the best possible traction on slippery roads or ice-covered roads.

Finish your tasks faster with the Bad Boy Off Road Stampede 900! The Stampede has great towing power and a wide loading platform, which makes it perfect when you have fields, courts or other large grounds that need to be taken care of.

Move from house to house in your neighborhood without having to worry about walking in the cold! For those of you who have a golf cart on hand to go golf during those beautiful fall days, visit the supermarket in the summer, or just move around the neighborhood.

You are one lucky guy because your golf cart can also make you visit your friends and neighbors in style when the thermostat goes down! Simply pick up some cabinets designed to keep the wind from blowing that cold air and you’ll be able to go your way!

Just make sure your golf cart is legal on the road!

First Off: The Basics

Make sure your battery stays in optimal condition, even if you don’t go out on the field.

Before leaving your golf cart, make sure the battery is clean, fully charged and disconnected from any source of electrical drainage. Batteries will continue to be unloaded, even during periods when they are not used or stored.

If you do not disconnect the cables from the battery, you may encounter a golf cart battery that will not start in the spring. Set the key switch to “OFF”.

If your golf cart is an electric RXV, make sure the ‘Run/ Tow’ switch is in the ‘Run/Storage’ position. Remember, if you leave it in the “Tow” position, it will continue to drain the batteries over time.

If it’s an electric TXT, like a grand orange EZ-Go model, you’ll want to look for the “Trailer/Maintenance/Storage”. In both vehicles, you will find the switch you need under the passenger seat.

Keep A Check On A Regular Basis

Write down your calendar or set an alarm on your phone to remind you every three weeks to check the batteries, even when you’re not using your golf cart or ATV.

Golf cart batteries must be recharged at least every 30 days, or as needed. Your golf cart doesn’t need to be constantly plugged in, just leave every two to three weeks, check the charge and make sure it is full.

Clean It Before You Keep It

When it’s time to store your golf cart, make sure it’s clean. Use soap, water, degreaser, and other cleaning products as needed to remove dry mud, sand, grime, and dirt from your golf cart.
Do a good cleaning with Renew Protect to restore your tires, body, and plastics and to prevent cracking and discoloration.

Don’t let a dirty golf cart bother you all winter, clean it now. Cleaning your golf cart makes it easier to work/inspect before storing it.

For Battery

Use a battery terminal cleaner to clean up battery corrosion. For a DYI cleaner, mix a little baking soda and water and use it to lightly brush the terminals. Rinse the solution with water and dry it with a towel.

While the battery is drying, check the battery connection cables to ensure a perfect fit and the cables are not broken or damaged.

Empty The Fuel In Case Of Gas Golf Carts

If your cart is gas, drain gasoline from all pipes and parts of the carburetor into the fuel tank. Fuel left in the car during the winter can cause grime to form in small parts of the carburetor or fuel pump.

If your golf cart has a shut-off valve, make sure it is in the “off” position. If your golf cart does not have a shut-off valve, disconnect the fuel line from the fuel tank.

After all the fuel has been drained and the lines have been turned off/removed, run the engine until it dies. Seal the gas tank by tightening the gas lid. Then seal the ventilation tube and the edges with a little duct tape for a secure seal.

Lastly: Finishing Touch

Disconnect the battery cables to avoid unnecessary electrical problems during storage.

If the car will be checked periodically, leave the batteries connected and connect the car to a maintainer.

Inflate the tires to the proper pressure before storing them to maintain the shape of the tires when not driving.

DO NOT LOCK the parking brake on your golf cart. Locking the brake cable for an extended period of time can cause the cable to stretch. Instead, place wooden blocks behind the tires to prevent movement while stored.
